Its been several months since I have updated my meagerly used blog. The feeling I must say sucks!... Especially when all the moments in these past months have been nothing but exuberant, absolutely worth romanticizing, capturing, nurturing and reliving.
I have traveled, traveled far and wide and very often.
In a country which now makes me an NRI,I have lived a very random, unsorted, fun, exhausting life.No...i ain't traveling as an hobby, but on a 9 to 6 job ..here in cyprus...jus happen to spare alll the time on the weekends to rome around!...For those of you who don't know about it ....its an incredibly scenic island to the south east of Greece...with a history of ...war as complex and love as passionate as that of Greece.
So after the huge exile away from the blog-sphere...I think its best to start with a post that justifies my absence .....or not:P
Travel doesn't come cheap ...you invest time and money...but the thrill comes out of the spontaneity. You can hardly plan everything to the last detail when you travel to a new country .Every trip you take has a different flavor in accordance to the place and your company of friends or family or colleagues . What makes the trip pleasurable and at times adventurous is your high spirits and passion to explore. Yes its good to be well read about the place you are visiting , maybe referring to travel blogs can give you amazing insights , but if you stick too much by the book where's the fun :).
When and where I traveled
In the past 1 year I traveled across Cyprus followed by an extensive 3 months stay in Romania on job (read - company's expense) and then a trip to Germany to visit my sister followed shortly by a trip to Israel and now As I write the blog I am in by far the most beautiful of all countries I have seen...India :)
So what pleasure is it that I gain when I travel,
My best quote till date is -
“For my part, I travel not to go anywhere, but to go. I travel for travel’s sake. The great affair is to move.” – Robert Louis Stevenson
I used to love it even as a kid when I traveled to the most exotic destinations within India with my family.
When I bunked office ---
One morning in Cyprus it was partly cloudy with sweet cool breezes , I had missed my favorite monsoon season back in Mumbai that is when the thought of going for a drive to this unexplored beach with a good friend was more than tempting .I called sick at work , and we took the jeep in search for directions to this beach. By the time we reached the beach we had already entered someone's backyard , walked on extremely lonesome streets , heard probable gun shots as we walked in a orange farm. Overlooking the beach was this archaeological site which we decided to go visit first. Some of the breath taking views from above.
The beach itself was laden with smooth round pebbles and and the crackling of water through it...as the waves came ashore was beautiful. Foodie that I am , no trip is complete without exploring some new recipes , so we decided to head back and catch up on some food...where we landed up dining was at this old resturant serving authentic English food...chicken curry with fries and rice, followed by a banana split ice cream....just perfect :)
The feisty boat ride and open sea snorkeling...
At the north western tip of cyprus lies this beautiful Island ...to be continued....
